Draft for the RipClip alpha. Written in plain language; it should be reviewed by a lawyer before RipClip is offered to the public.
Terms of Service
These terms are the agreement between you and Legal business name: to be added for using RipClip. By creating an account or using RipClip you agree to them. The short version: your videos stay yours, only upload what you have the right to use, check your clips before you post them, and you can cancel or delete your account at any time.
1. Your account
- You must be at least 13 years old, or 16 in the EU and the UK. If you're under 18, you need a parent's or guardian's permission, and they accept these terms for you.
- Give a real email address and keep your password to yourself. You're responsible for what happens under your account.
- One person per account. Your username is public; your email and your Library are not.
2. Your content
- You keep ownership of the videos, images, fonts and music you upload and of the clips you make.
- You give us permission to store, process and display that content only to run RipClip for you: to transcribe it, find moments, render clips, show them to you and publish them where you tell us to. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies you've already published elsewhere.
- Only upload content you have the right to use. If you clip someone else's stream or video, you need their permission or another legal right to do so. Don't upload anything illegal, hateful, sexually explicit involving minors, or that infringes someone else's rights.
- We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules, and we respond to valid copyright notices sent to support@ripclip.org.
3. Automatic results
Captions, clip suggestions and rankings are made automatically and can be wrong. Review your clips before you publish them. RipClip doesn't promise views, followers or any other result.
4. Posting to social platforms
When you connect an Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube or X account, RipClip publishes only the posts you schedule or tell it to post. Each platform's own terms apply to what you post there, and you're responsible for following them. You can disconnect an account at any time in Accounts.
5. The plan and payment
- Alpha: RipClip is free while it's in alpha. Nothing is charged and no payment details are asked for.
- Plans: a free plan and three monthly plans, from $29.99 per month. The pricing page lists each plan's price, Horizon Units and features; Premium features need a paid plan. There are no setup fees or hidden charges. Sales tax or VAT is added only where the law requires it, and it is shown before you pay.
- Trying without an account: you can upload one video of up to 30 minutes and clip and edit it without signing up. Exporting, downloading and posting need an account. What you make is deleted after 24 hours unless you create an account.
- Free trial: the Creator plan can start with a 7-day free trial, once per account, with 150 Horizon Units to use during the trial (the plan's full monthly units start with the first paid month). You give a card when you start it. If you don't cancel before the trial ends, the trial turns into the paid plan and the first monthly payment is taken on day 8; we show that date before you start. Cancel any time during the trial in Account settings and you won't be charged; your account then moves to the free plan.
- The plan renews automatically each month until you cancel. We'll show the price and renewal date before you subscribe, and email a receipt for each payment.
- You can cancel at any time with Manage plan on your Dashboard. Cancelling stops the next renewal and you keep access until the end of the month you've paid for. Refunds are covered in the Refund Policy.
- If we ever change the price, we'll tell you at least 30 days before your next renewal, and you can cancel before it applies.
- The plan includes a fair amount of processing (about 10 hours of source video a month to start). We'll publish any change to that limit before it applies.
6. Using RipClip fairly
Don't try to break into other accounts or our systems, overload the service, resell it, scrape it, or use it to send spam. Don't use automated tools to create accounts.
7. Our part
- RipClip, Riptide, our code, designs and our own stickers and sounds belong to us. Fonts, emoji and other outside material belong to their owners and are used under their licenses (see Credits).
- We work to keep RipClip running and your data safe, but during the alpha it is provided "as is", may change, and may have outages or bugs. Keep your own copies of anything important. Library clips are deleted after 10 days.
- To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (or $50 if you paid nothing). Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer protection law that can't be limited.
8. Ending the agreement
You can stop using RipClip and delete your account at any time in Account settings. We may suspend or close accounts that seriously or repeatedly break these terms; we'll tell you why, unless the law or safety prevents it.
9. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Governing law: to be added. If you live in the EU or the UK you also keep the protection of the consumer laws where you live. Please contact us first; most problems can be fixed by email.
10. Changes to these terms
If we make an important change, we'll tell you at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you don't agree, you can cancel and delete your account before then.
